About Suffs

About the show

Following a sold-out run at The Public Theatre, Suffs, the two-time Tony Award-winning musical from Shaina Taub, is making history on Broadway! Suffs tells the story of the women at the forefront of the suffragist movement, fighting for the right to vote and risking their lives to change the world. Suffs brings their legacy to life as it follows these trailblazers who paved the way for the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Written by Shaina Taub—only the second woman in history to write the book, music, lyrics, and star in her own musical—Suffs features iconic historical figures like Alice Paul, Carrie Chapman Catt, Ida B. Wells, Lucy Burns, and Inez Milholland.

With direction from Leigh Silverman, this production blends heart-stirring music, vibrant choreography by Mayte Natalio, and drama to celebrate the women who made history. The creative team features sets by Riccardo Hernández, costumes by Paul Tazewell, lighting by Lap Chi Chu, and sound by Jason Crystal.

Suffs is about the hard won victory, and the ongoing fight for change, allowing us to look back at those who paved the way, so we can march into the future. Get your Suffs Broadway tickets today and witness history in the making at the Music Box Theatre.
