Nearly five hundred years after the death of the infamous King Henry VIII (known for divorcing and beheading his wives), Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss decided to give his six wives not just a voice, but a stage to tell their side of the story in Six.

The Tudor queens – Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr – come back as modern day pop icons competing in a singing competition to determine who suffered the most while married to Henry VIII. An Introduction to Six The Musical

The musical premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland before making its West End debut at the Arts Theatre in January 2019, followed by a UK tour. A little over a year later, it opened on Broadway, but the run was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was fortunately able to reopen for the 2021-2022 Broadway season. For Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss it was worth the wait as they won the Tony Award for Best Original Score Written for the Theatre in 2022, and Six’s costume designer Gabriella Slade took the Tony Award for Best Costume Design. The show has been widely successful in both London and New York City with audiences still eager to learn the “her-story” behind the lines, “Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived.” It is currently running at the Lena Horne Theatre in New York City.

Broadway fans looking for a way to hold onto the magic a little longer once they leave the theater can always count on a solid cast album. Something unique about Six’s Original Broadway Cast Recording, other than it topping the Billboard cast album charts, was that it was the first one ever to be recorded on opening night.

Depending on the Broadway show there are usually a few different ways that discounted tickets will be offered, including a digital lottery, rush tickets, and standing room. Their names are generally suggestive of how they function, whether that be by entering a drawing online or waking up early to wait in line at the theater itself. Often these tickets will get you access to last minute seats, partial view seats, or in some instances some of the best seats in the house for a fraction of the price.

How to Enter a Lottery for Six the Musical Tickets

Entering the digital lottery can be a great option for last minute availability to Six since it is so widely popular. If you’d like to try your luck at in the digital lottery for a history lesson you won’t soon forget, follow the steps below:

First navigate to https://lottery.broadwaydirect.com/show/six-ny/. Often Broadway productions will use external platforms like Broadway Direct, Lucky Seat, TodayTix, or Rush Telecharge to host their digital lotteries, so you won’t be on the Six’s official site. If you’d like to double check you can always start there to make sure you end up in the right place.
You will first see directions and information for the digital lottery and the show. Scroll to the bottom of the page to select the date you’d like to see the show. You’ll notice that the digital lottery for Six is only open from 9am to 6pm the day prior to the performance. The discounted tickets offered will be listed for $45.
Once you select your preferred date to see the musical, you will be asked to input your first and last name, email, birthdate, zip code, and country of residence. When you go to select the amount of tickets you’d like, you’ll see that the limit of tickets you can buy per person is 2 tickets.
Check the box certifying that you agree to the terms & conditions.
Click ENTER!
Wait for the lottery to close, and within minutes you’ll be notified by email if you won or not. Lottery entries are limited to one per person.
If you are selected, you will have 60 minutes to purchase your tickets online before they are forfeited. Note that the location of your seats will be selected at the discretion of the box office.
You should receive your digital tickets about an hour before the performance.

In-Person Standing Room and Student Rush Tickets for Six the Musical

Only if a show is completely sold out will standing room tickets be available to Six. This entails standing for the length of the performance at the back of the orchestra, so it’s certainly not for everyone. For those who wouldn’t mind being on their feet, $49 standing room tickets are available for purchase only in-person at the Lena Horne Theatre box office. They are open 10am-8pm Monday through Saturday and from 12pm-6pm on Sundays. You may purchase up to two tickets.

Another route to discounted tickets is the student rush. For each performance there are a minimum of six student rush tickets available for $35 once the box office opens. There is a limit of two tickets per person. The location of the seats is at the discretion of the box office.

Other Ways to Get Tickets to Six the Musical

If the lottery seems like too risky a route, you can always purchase tickets for regular prices online or at the box office. Additionally, you have the option to book group tickets or get in the cancellation line to check with the box office for last minute cancellations/availability before the performance.
